I wrote this entry (below) about myself as a comment for another blog that I like – written by motivator, Johnna Johnson.  I decided it was appropriate to post on OSHOULDKNOW.  I have a lot to be grateful for. . .and, some work to do.  How about you?

It’s a New Year – O, I’m Ready!  Here we go:

For the first time, I think I achieved almost everything on my resolution/goal list that I developed on December 31, 2008.  Highlights include: 1) Waking up each day with a conscious decision to make life better for my husband and kids.  And, I didn’t just think about it—I did something each and every day.  And, wow!  That little daily pledge did wonders for my relationship with my family.  2) I decided it was OK to be open about my faith in not only God, but all higher powers.  I believe in them all!  I’ve always hidden it under the guise of being “nice” and always doing the right thing.  I decided that “somebody” finally deserved some credit!  3) I’ve always loved working, but not always where I was working.  For the second year in a row, I wake up each day absolutely “jacked” about the day.  That’s 730 straight days of professional bliss.  Pretty darn cool.  I now know what it is like to have true passion for what you do and think on a daily basis, “Wow, I’d do this for free!”

Where did I fall down? I fell down on top of MYSELF!  I ended the year with a number of pretty serious health issues.  I can totally relate to Urban Meyer.  I have come to the realization that the three accomplishments I listed above don’t mean squat if I’m dead . . . simple as that.

So, this is going to be the year of MYSELF.  It’s going to be hard because I’m good at coming in first in the race of life, but killing myself along the way.  Not this year.  I’m spending January cleaning up the health messes I’ve made and WILL wake up each day thinking not only about making things better for those I love, but hey—look in the mirror!  :)   And, when I do . . .I’ll raise my right hand high to remind myself to follow through.  I WILL call on myself this year!!
